Extreme Pursuit
New Zealand
Приєднався 23 лют 2016
We do adventure, mind-blowing experiences and moments of close escapes. Often to far-flung places, in pursuit of extreme things. Like when a volcano pops or it rains cats and dogs and elephants. While Mother Nature is sometimes a very destructive and fearsome force, she puts on the best show on Earth. It’s this connection which we love to explore and share at every opportunity through UA-cam.
Iceland Eruption - Interaction of Magma with Groundwater.
The volcanic eruption in Iceland initiated at 12:46 PM local time, marked by the formation of a fissure that rapidly propagated to approximately 3 kilometers in length, bisecting the pre-existing volcanic cone established during the prior eruptive event.
The eruption is characterized by lava fountaining that has
reached heights exceeding 100 meters. However, effusion rates have subsequently decreased, aligning with typical patterns observed in previous eruptions at this volcanically active site.
The eruption has also produced ash plumes, likely generated by the interaction of ascending magma with groundwater.
Lava flows are advancing southward and have breached the Grindavíkurvegur road, south of Mt. Þorbjörn. The lava's interaction with infrastructure and the natural environment is being closely monitored. Despite the lava's advance, the defensive barriers constructed around the town of Grindavik remain intact at the time of this report.

Lava Spills Over Cone - Iceland Eruption Update
Переглядів 2972 місяці тому
Iceland (Svartsengi) Update: The northern cone's lava lake has experienced a substantial rise in level. This has led to lava overflowing the cone and forming multiple flow channels. The likely cause is a blockage within a previously semi-persistent vent or tunnel located at the cone's base. This blockage has backed up the lava, raising its level. The overflow could erode the side of the cone, c...
The Volcanoes of New Zealand

New Zealand lies at the south-west end of a vast 40,000 km belt surrounding the Pacific Ocean, known as the Ring of Fire. The majority of Earth’s volcanic eruptions and earthquakes occur within this boundary and New Zealand is no exception. The country is perched precariously at the ends of two plates with the Pacific plate being subducted below the Australian Plate. This process enables the ri...

I wish I'd had a camera to catch it- one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen: after hurricane Katrina I went down to help clean up things with a large group. We rode there on School Buses and the drivers got lost and we ended up in Kentucky or Tennessee (I wasn't driving so I don't know exactly- this was before cell phones were common). Anyway, we drove over a very large river as the Sun was coming up and when I looked out the Window there was an absolutely perfect sunrise on its own along with dozens of these Steam devils as far I could see, and they weren't fast like this, they were quite slow moving and wen tall the way up to the low cloud layer- VERY tall. It was an amazing and unexpected sight. There's a LOT of weird stories from that trip, it was fun and messed up at the same time.
super footage

Although exploring any volcano dead or active is incredibly dangerous and is to be done only by trained professionals, this is not so dangerous . The last Krakatoa eruption in 1883 although blasting out many Indonesian islands and archipelago’s is borderline inactive modern day, never the less be safe this shit is incredibly dangerous
How do I stop seeing videos? It's not new or exciting.

@@PhrogNZ I love that super hard. ♥️🌋♥️
what do you know, there was water in the fissure after all.
So damn lucky, that it happened to be directly in front of the camera, that was placed close to the potential fissure, compared to the ones further away. Being able to see something like this up close and live was crazy yesterday.
I watched all 2 hrs of it, twice. That entire lake of lava (10-15M deep) drained into the hole in about 15 minutes. Just don't tell Isak that I was stepping out on his live drone footage once I saw these more interesting events going on in the background.
Why couldn't this be under Mar a Lago !!
Devil looks after his own? 😂
You misspelled Mar a Lardo
Or under the Democratic Party headquarters.

Wow; beautiful, powerful, terrifying. I am so glad I know what this is or I might think the world was ending. Thank you for a magnificent video!
I saw this on the webcams yesterday. It looked like a micro version of Eyjafjallajökull. I knew the water table was somewhere nearby. I guess the lava finally found it in that fissure. Glad that brief bit of ash was blowing away from town.
Was watching this in real time yesterday. Lava + water go boom. There has been speculation that this crack extends under the lava field down to near the berm, as a fresh lava flow appeared there on 5/29 out of pretty much nowhere, and this was a likely source for it.
U got to remember the more whitey brown ash clouds are from water + lava but the darker or completely dark ash clouds aren’t from water+lava it was all lava 100% ash content
Njir mengecil
Kleinfarvatten is 90 metter deep craterlake and is nearby. THAT can make Santorini-type explosion.
Dont be ridiculous , it takes a bit more water than that & different magma .
@@jjMcCartan9686 5 km long and 2 kilometer wide. 90 m deep max or even more. It is enough for santorini-type eruption. I think Tongas Hunga-Tonga Ha Apai was santorini type of eruption.
@@karihamalainen9622 You need a different type of eruptive style/magma. This one is tholeiithic basalt, while the other 2 you mentioned are basaltic/andesitic. Completely different magma types that allow different eruptive force because this one's lava is much more fluid, thus much harder to retain the gas which drives all volcanic eruptions. Tonga volcano eruption was caused by depressurisation of a large volume of rapidly rising magma, and water adds to the explosivity. This one is different. If Tonga volcano is likened to a shotgun, this one is similar to a leaking pipe. Its not so simple as magma + water = supervolcano explosion.
@@juice_lime5114Cool.

Why the lava is so liquid, not like the lava in Mexico, Japan, or Indonesia?
because the terrain of the place is quite steep
This is what's called an effusive eruption. This basaltic lava, which has less gas and is more runny, where volcanoes like in Mexico and Indonesia are andacite lavas, which are blocky and very explosive because of the gas trapped within them
@@RiddleBoxBree Is that the reason why Dukono, Krakatoa and Sakurajima have explosive eruptions that continue almost every day for years? Or is there another reason? Because you know, for example Lewotolok and Lewotobi aren't explosive, but instead have continuous lava flows that resemble chunks of glass and boulders, but not so explosive.. I'm sorry for asking so many questions, as I'm new to this field (´-﹏-`;)..
The lava in Iceland has lower silica content that the lava in Japan or Indonesia. Japan and Indonesia tend to erupt a type of lava called Rhyolite. The lava in Iceland is Basalt.
@@Zantigableiaust Krakatoa and Sakurajima, as well as Dukano, are all the newest vents from the eruptions of MucH, MUCH bigger volcanic caulderas. And they are made from either Andacite, Trachyte, or Dacite. These 3 types of lavas are very blocky, which holds a LOT of gas thats disolved into it. They are still VERY active and dangerous, because of just how much gas they contain. Its why they are so frequent and explosive
Stay safe
Wow this was awesome
Ibu certainly was quite happy to show off her eruptions to visitors. Amazing.

Very dangerous
There is a story in Indonesian society that, in fact, the islands of Sumatra and Java were originally united but are now separated due to the ancient eruption of Krakatoa.
Nice😘🍇
For those who ask when this event took place? It was from december 4th 2021 and 2022 eruption. That 2 eruption produce 13 - 20km long pyroclastic flow which destroy home and other things (like seen in the video)
Also, that looks insanely dangerous.
Indonesia is so beautiful.
